WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO OWNING A PEST DEFENSE SYSTEM?

HOW DO I OBTAIN THE PEST DEFENSE SYSTEM IN MY HOME?
Hi Tech Pest Defense installs the PEST DEFENSE SYSTEM during a home’s construction. Ask your builder if they offer the system as a standard feature. Not all do. For homes that are already constructed, Hi Tech Pest Defense can still offer you our conventional pest control service.

DOES THE PEST DEFENSE SYSTEM CAUSE MOISTURE BUILD UP INSIDE THE WALLS?
No. Independent research conducted by the University of Florida concluded that, “There is more water weight from condensation after a hot shower” than results from servicing a PEST DEFENSE SYSTEM in a home.

WHAT IF I HAVE BLOWN-IN INSULATION?
Exterior finishes, foundation design and insulation type effect which walls the system is installed. The system is designed to meet the specific needs of each builder. The system will be installed in designated exterior or interior walls or a combination of both.

WILL THE PEST DEFENSE SYSTEM CLOG AFTER SEVERAL TREATMENTS?
No. Independent research by the University of Georgia determined that there was no apparent clogging of the apertures (holes), and none of the apertures malfunctioned during the simulated twenty-year test. The treatment equipment, and application techniques have been designed to work together to ensure clog-free lines for the life of the system.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A PEST DEFENSE SYSTEM DISTRIBUTION LINE IS CUT DURING CONSTRUCTION?
Typically, damaged lines are found and repaired prior to closing up the walls. In the rare instance of a cut line the system typically has 10-15 zones and will cover adequate pest control even if a zone is disabled.

DOES THE PEST DEFENSE SYSTEM, QUALIFY FOR “GREEN” PROGRAMS?
Yes. The Florida Green Building Coalition (3 points), as well as numerous other “Green” programs, provides “Green Points” for including integrated pest management practices, specifically, precision targeting of pesticides to areas not contacted by or accessible to the occupants.

Watering

After your home is treated. Wait as long as you can before watering your lawn. Waiting a week or two after treatment will greatly increase the effectiveness of service.

Lighting

All insects are attracted to light.Any amount of light from windows with no curtains, porch lights or solar light will intice insects to your property. If you strongly feel they are needed outdoors motion lights are encouraged.

Staying on schedule

Maintaining scheduled services is extremely beneficial to a pest free home. Even during the winter months when you think pest are not around they are. Scorpions bread during the fall and spring.When they are young scorpions are easier to kill therefore greatly reducing the numbers during the summer. Chemicals also remain stable for longer periods of time in colder weather and will still be active when insects emerge in the spring.

IPM

Integrated pest management is the control of insects by means other than insecticides. Keeping windows closed at night, caulking trim around eaves, putting steel wool in weep holes and not bringing in firewood until you are ready to burn it are all I.P.M. measures.
